HERRIMAN, Utah (Friday, July 29, 2022) – Real Salt Lake (9-7-6, 33 pts, 4th West) resumes 2022 Major League Soccer action Saturday, as RSL travels to San Jose this weekend looking for yet another “bounceback” result following last week’s dominant yet disappointing 0-1 home loss to FC Dallas. Saturday’s stumble snapped the Club’s 10-game unbeaten home streak for the Utah side, which fell back into a very crowded Western Conference playoff race, the Claret-and-Cobalt one of seven teams in a five-point glut separating third and ninth places. The final 12 games of the season alternate home/away from now until October 9 “Decision Day” in Sandy, Utah, which will likely be key in determining both MLS Cup Playoff berths as well as hosts and matchups.

Saturday’s match will be broadcast locally via KMYU (12 over the air, 22 satellite and 643 HD on cable), with streaming on the KSL Sports App, as well as ESPN700 AM radio. Spanish-speaking fans can tune in on KBMG Latino 106.3 FM, La Gran D 102.3 FM and KTUB 1600 AM for the local radio broadcast.

RSL travels to San Jose – which it defeated 2-0 on Utah soil back on June 18 – looking to make up dropped home points over the last month against Columbus, Colorado and Dallas with a rare road win. In its visit to the Bay Area last September, RSL won 4-3 at Earthquakes with goals from Rubio Rubin, Justin Meram and Albert Rusnák to give Head Coach Pablo Mastroeni his first-ever RSL away win.

Since assuming the Club’s head coaching reins late last August, RSL has earned results in 12 of its 13 games following losses in Mastroeni’s 36-game RSL career, posting a 9-1-3 (W-L-T) “bounceback” mark. Under Mastroeni’s leadership, RSL is now 11-3-3 (W-L-T) on Utah soil against MLS opponents.

Prior to the trio of one-goal road losses in June/July at Vancouver, at Minnesota and at Atlanta, RSL had enjoyed its most prosperous period of visiting success dating back to last October (5W-4L-3T).

The Claret-and-Cobalt are now 7-1-3 (W-L-T) in its 11 matches on Utah soil this year, posting one of the League’s best home records. Each of the Club’s 11 Rio Tinto Stadium matches this season have exceeded the venue’s 20,000-seat capacity, a Club-record sellout streak both from the beginning of the season and at any point in one of its 18 Major League Soccer campaigns. Please visit www.RSL.com/tickets to secure a seat for RSL’s next home game, next Saturday, August 6 against current Supporters Shield leader LAFC, as RSL looks to add to the most dominant home-field advantage in MLS since the Sandy, Utah venue opened in October, 2008.
