FRISCO, Texas (Sunday, April 10, 2022) — With back-to-back wins underneath their belts, the RSL Academy U15s will look to go undefeated in the group stage of the 2022 Generation Adidas Cup in their final match against Mexico’s Club Tijuana, their first international competition of the tournament. The match is scheduled to kickoff from Frisco, Texas at 8:00 p.m. MT on Monday, April 11.
The U15s enter Monday evening’s match after defeating FC Cincinnati 1-0 behind a goal from 2022 newcomer Kevin Hernandez, his first of the tournament and a clean sheet from goalkeeper Ty Rinker. Hernandez’ goal was assisted by forward Zavier Gozo, who now leads the team with two goals and two assists through the first two matches. This win comes on the heels of their first victory over FC Dallas on Saturday afternoon, a 3-1 win that included a brace from Gozo and a third goal from Luca Moisa.
Meanwhile, Club Tijuana comes into the match after a 1-0 loss to FC Dallas. Coupled with their 3-2 win over FC Cincinnati, Club Tijuana currently sits in second place of Group D with three points.
RSL Academy U15 Head Coach Andrew May will look to extend his unbeaten streak in tournament play with the Claret-and-Cobalt. May has not lost a match in a competitive tournament since joining the Club, winning every match of the 2021 MLS NEXT Cup, the 2021 MLS NEXT Fest and now two matches in the 2022 Generation Adidas Cup.
A win, draw, or loss will guarantee the team a place in the knockout round, the schedule for which will be released at a later date. Score updates for the match can be found by following RSL Academy’s social channels.
