The Real Salt Lake Academy has had an eventful two weeks, hosting Vancouver Whitecaps FC and Colorado Rapids in back-to-back weekends, while also hosting two United Premier Soccer League matches against Battle Born FC and Morelos Idaho Falls.Â
Against Vancouver Whitecaps, the U15s looked to have yet another win, but a last minute goal saw the team finish with a 1-1 draw. Dylan Garcia scored the lone goal for RSL.Â
Meanwhile, a the U17s fell 2-1 to the Whitecaps. Goalkeeper Fernando Delgado did his best to keep it a level score, making a penalty kick save, but the referee determined him to be off his line and Vancouver put away the second opportunity. Captain Jude Wellings netted the goal in the loss for RSL.
The following weekend against Colorado Rapids the U15s got back to their winning ways, with Dominic Berrios and Axel Uriostegui finding the back of the net on the way to the 2-1 victory, bringing their season record to 6-1-1 in MLS Next competition.Â
Izahi Amparo found the net for the U17s against the Rapids, but it was not enough to overcome the two-goal deficit and the team lost 2-1 to their Rocky Mountain rivals.Â
In UPSL competition the Academy fell 5-2 to Battle Born FC, but bounced back the following game to defeat Morelos Idaho Falls 4-3 thanks to a braces from Jeremiah Omishakin and Terron Williams.Â
The Academy is back in action 0n October 23 when they host Seattle Sounders for the second time in as many months. The last time the two sides faced each other the U15s took a 3-2 win, while the U17s earned a 2-2 draw.
