The RSL Academy U-19s and U-17s are in Florida this week, kicking off the Allstate DA Cup Winter Showcase. The Showcase runs from Wednesday, December 4th to Sunday, December 8th.
The RSL Academy U-19 side opened up the week with a 5-0 rout over D.C. United Wednesday morning. Cesar Medina opened the scoring in the 30th minute before Pablo Caparelli doubled the Academy’s lead just before the end of the first half. Denis Conteh and Bode Davis each contributed a goal in the second half while Caparelli netted the brace to top off the scoring in the 69th minute to complete the victory. Christian Olivares stood firm in goal to keep the clean sheet. The RSL U-19s return to action this afternoon when it set to play Atlanta United FC before rounding out the week against the Players Development Academy on Saturday.
The U-17 side enters the Winter Showcase having gone undefeated during the Fall Group Stages. Finishing at the top of the group, the RSL Academy U-17s are positioned to play for a spot in the DA Spring Cup for the DA Cup Championship. Its journey through the Winter Showcase begins tonight against Weston U-17s before taking its Sporting Kansas City counterpart on Friday and capping the weekend against Baltimore Armour U-17 on Sunday.
