The Real Salt Lake Academy headed North of the border this past weekend for a set of games with Vancouver Whitecaps FC where the two teams split the results.Â
The RSL U-15s kicked off the weekend with another win, extending its undefeated streak throughout the month of October to four games. Forward Armani Haro led the way with his first brace of the season, while defender Garrett Windle added a goal of his own, and midfielder Luca Moisa earned his first assist of the season to push the Claret-and-Cobalt to a 3-1 win over the Canadian side. The RSL U-15s now sit on top of the MLS NEXT West Division with 10 points and a 4-1-1 record, only dropping one match thus far.Â
The RSL U-17s began their match with the Whitecaps on the back foot, falling into a three goal deficit early. The Claret-and-Cobalt found a way to claw themselves back behind a brace from Utah-native Zavier Gozo, giving him a team-leading seven goals through six matches. RSL Homegrown Jude Wellings netted a goal and assist of his own. New-addition Cayne Madhlangove earned his first assist of the season, as well, but the Club was unable to complete the comeback, losing to Vancouver 4-3. The U-17s are now 6th in the West Division with eight points and a 2-3-2 record.Â
The Real Salt Lake Academy will return home to Zions Bank Real Academy this weekend to kick off a four-match home stand. The Claret-and-Cobalt will face Bay Area side Ballistic United on Saturday, October 29 before its rematch with Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Sunday, October 30.
