After a one-month hiatus from regular season action, the Real Salt Lake Academy returns to action on Saturday, May 11 when it hosts Real So Cal at the Zions Bank Real Academy in Herriman.
The U-17s enter the weekend owning the fifth spot in the U.S.S.D.A. Southwest Division, firmly in the fourth wild card spot in the age group with playoffs quickly approaching. RSL owns a 9-9-1 (28 points) record with two matches remaining in the regular season. With two matches still to play, the U-17s could jump to the third wild card position should it win out prior to playoffs.
The U-17s are led by midfielder Bode Davis who have each notched 10 goals in 16 and 18 matches respectively. In the U-17 West Golden Boot standings Davis sits in 9th place overall.
The U-19s enter the weekend tied for second place in the U.S.S.D.A. Southwest Division standings, level on points with Pateadores and an even 12-4-5 (41 points) record. RSL would have a chance to claim the top spot in the division prior to playoffs beginning should the first place Barca Academy fail to win its final two matches and RSL claims victory in its final two matches.
The U-19s are led by forward Ben Ortiz who has ten goals to his name from 19 matches played for the older group this season. His ten goals place him in 7th place in the U-19 West Golden Boot race. Supplementing Ortiz’s scoring prowess is RSL first team member Luis Arriaga who has also featured in 19 matches for the U-19s this season, as well as matches in Major League Soccer and the USL Championship for Real Monarchs SLC.
Saturday’s matches at the Zions Bank Real Academy in Herriman begin at 11:00a MT with the U-17s before the U-19s kickoff at 1:30p MT. RSL Academy matches are free and open to the public with fans strongly encouraged to attend.
