The Real Salt Lake Academy had a successful trip to Commerce City, Colorado taking a win and a draw against the Rapids Academy. The U17’s played to a 2-2 draw while the U15’s brought home three points with a 2-1 win.
The U15’s earned a road win against the Rapids Academy, giving them a 4-3-2 record on the season with 14 points. Forward Kevin Hernandez found the first goal of the game just one minute into the first half.
At halftime the U15’s had the 1-0 lead, but one minute after the whistle blew, Hernandez found his second goal of the game to give RSL the 2-0 lead. With the goal, Hernandez recorded his first brace of the season. The Rapids Academy were able to get on the scoresheet with a penalty kick goal with less than ten minutes to play, but RSL still took home the 2-1 win.
The U17’s held the Rapids to a 2-2 draw in the first match of the day. Forward Jaden Jackson had himself a day, scoring both goals for the brace. His two goals were his first of the season. The U17’s are now 2-6-2 on the season with eight points.
Up Next: The RSL Academy will head out for two more road matches. On May 7 the RSL Academy will face the Seattle Sounders with the U17 match at 11:00 a.m. MT and U15’s at 1:30 p.m. MT. The next day, May 8, the teams will face Vancouver Whitecaps Academy with the U15’s kicking off first at 11:00 a.m. MT and U17’s at 1:30 p.m. MT.
The team will then return home for matches versus LAFC Academy on May 21 with the U15’s at 10:00 a.m. MT and U17’s at 12:00 p.m. MT.
