HERRIMAN, Utah (Wednesday, January 11, 2022) – Real Salt Lake has cancelled its extended California preseason stay set to begin this week due to flooding in the Santa Barbara region, opting to remain in Utah prior to a quick 48-hour jaunt to Los Angeles for the scheduled preseason match on Sat., Jan. 21 at defending MLS Cup champion LAFC. The updated details for RSL’s Utah-based sessions are listed below.
Meanwhile, details for RSL’s Arizona preseason have been finalized, with Head Coach Pablo Mastroeni’s team joining host FC Tucson, the Chicago Fire and six other USL Championship sides in the 13th edition of the FC Tucson Desert Showcase in the city’s legendary Kino Stadium district from Feb. 8-18.
Led by RSL’s most accomplished Homegrown **Justen Glad**, a Tucson, Ariz., native who is just a handful of games away from career Major League Soccer appearance #200, RSL will play four Arizona-based matches during its 12-day preseason stint in February. The AZ schedule currently includes a tilt against perennial MLS rival Sporting Kansas City in Phoenix prior to three matches in Tucson: First against Sacramento Republic and former Real Monarchs boss Mark Briggs; next against El Paso Locomotive, current RSL and U.S. U-20 MF **Diego Luna**’s previous club; and finally against the MLS Chicago Fire.
