HERRIMAN, Utah (Wednesday, March 9, 2022) – Real Salt Lake defender Gershon Henry has been named by Head Coach Gonzalo Segares to the U.S. U-17 Men’s Youth National Team camp for their upcoming friendly match against Argentina.
The team will travel to Buenos Aires, Argentina for a training camp from March 10-20 during which they will take on Argentina on March 15 and Uruguay on March 18. This group is part of the cycle that will attempt to qualify and compete for the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Peru.
This is the third-consecutive call-up to a U.S. Soccer U-17 roster for Henry, having previously been part of the November and January training camps in Chula Vista, CA.
Henry has been a staple of the U-17’s defense all season, helping the team to go undefeated during the MLS NEXT Fest. He has been a part of the starting lineup for all four matches to start the 2022 calendar year, during which the RSL Academy U-17s have gone 2-2-0. Additionally, Henry was part of last year’s U-15 squad that won the MLS NEXT Cup, the Club’s first youth national championship since 2013.
The RSL Academy hosts Breakers FC this weekend at Zions Bank Training Facility. The U15s, led by Head Coach Andrew May, will play at 9:00 a.m. MT. Meanwhile the U17s, led by Head Coach Jordan Allen, will take the field at 11:00 a.m. MT.
