This past weekend the Real Salt Lake Academy hosted its first double-header weekend at Zions Bank Training Facility, playing San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday, October 30 and De Anza Force on Sunday, October 31.
The U17s earned consecutive wins, first with a 2-1 victory over San Jose Earthquakes with goals from Joon Han and Ethan Zamora. On Sunday the team was down 1-2 to De Anza Force in the 74th minute, but two late-game goals saw them steal the 3-2 victory. Izzy Amparo bagged a brace and Carter Burrup netted his first goal of the year and the eventual game winner.
The U15s saw their seven game unbeaten streak snap on Saturday morning, falling 2-3 to San Jose. Zavier Gozo and Max Lora continued their scoring hot streaks, but it was not enough to overcoming the Earthquakes. On Sunday the team looked to bounce back, but fell just short of all three points, playing to a 2-2 draw thanks to a brace from Lucas Moisa, his first goals of the season.
The Academy will now travel to Denver, Colorado where they will play Real Colorado on Saturday, November 6. The two teams previously played one another on the opening weekend of MLS Next play, with both the U15s and U17s earning wins on the road.
