Over the rainy weekend the RSL Academy secured dominant back-to-back victories over the Seattle Sounders FC Academy to continue its hot start to the MLS NEXT season.
The U15s improved to 7-1-1 on the year with a commanding 4-0 victory. After finishing the first half scoreless, RSL came storming out during the second 40 minutes, as Tony Ramirez bagged his first brace with the Club and Luis Rivera and Armani Haro added the third and fourth goals, respectively. Goalkeeper Ty Rinker earned the clean sheet between the posts while Carlos Castrejon orchestrated the attack, sparking the offensive pressure from his position as the left back. Â
The U17s took an early lead with a brace from forward Axel Kei in the first half, but a quick response from Seattle put pressure on the backline to preserve the scoreline. Goalkeeper Blake Kelly stepped up big in the second half to thwart several goal-scoring opportunities, giving the team a chance to get forward for the third and final goal from Terron Williams. Â
The two teams play on consecutive days this weekend, hosting San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday, October 30 and De Anza Force on Sunday, October 31. All four matches will be played at Zions Bank Training Facility.
