HERRIMAN, Utah (Saturday, August 5, 2023) – The vaunted Real Salt Lake Academy is honored to release six players - forward Omar Marquez, midfielder Luca Moisa, midfielder Axel Uriostegui, goalkeeper Will Mackay, defender Camron Estala and defender Juan Gio Villa - who have been named to the United States’ U-15 Men’s Youth National Team camp ahead of the impending CONCACAF Championship, which starts Sunday.
Marquez, Mackay, Villa, and Moisa have all been named to the final tournament roster representing the United States.
Five of the six RSL Academy players have previously participated in a United States Youth National Team camp previously, with Marquez, Uriostegui, and Villa also appearing in three matches for the Red, White and Blue. This elite tournament marks the first call-up for Estala.
The 2023 U-15 CONCACAF Championship will be held in Curaçao and the Dominican Republic from August 6-13. The competition is arranged into three leagues - A, B and C - with each league divided into groups. The United States will compete in League A, along with Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Puerto Rico, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Trinidad and Tobago.
All League A matches will be held in the Dominican Republic. The United States will compete in Group B against Qatar, Haiti, and Cuba. Play begins for the Stars and Stripes on August 6th when they will take on Qatar at 6:00 PM MDT.
Last season, the Real Salt Lake Academy U-15s qualified for the MLS NEXT Cup playoffs with a perfect 3-0-0 record at the MLS NEXT Flex tournament. In the Cup playoffs, the RSL U-15s advanced to the Quarterfinal stage, but fell to CF Montréal in a 13-round penalty shootout.
The RSL Academy will begin its 2023/24 season in MLS NEXT regular season play in October.
