Real Monarchs Wrap Up 2021 Season in New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (Friday, October 29, 2021) – Real Monarchs travel to Albuquerque to face New Mexico United at Isotopes Park in the 2021 USL Championship Regular-Season finale on Saturday, October 30, while seeking to earn the Club’s first-ever win in New Mexico. Kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m. MT and can be streamed live on ESPN+.

Head-to-Head: New Mexico United has the advantage over Real Monarchs with an all-time record of 7-2-0 in 9 matches played, including a 2-0-0 record at Isotopes Park.

The previous match between the sides resulted in a 2-1 defeat for the Monarchs at Isotopes Park on September 18.

Connections: New Mexico United defender Kalen Ryden spent two seasons with Real Monarchs from 2018-2019, recording nine goals and three assists in 67 appearances. His last goal for the Monarchs was the equalizer in the 48th minute of the Western Conference Semifinals, helping the club on its way to the USL Championship Title in 2019.

In addition, New Mexico forward Devon Sandoval was selected 29th overall by Real Salt Lake in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft and recorded 11 goals and five assists in 87 appearances from 2013-2016. Sandoval also made six appearances for Real Monarchs between 2015-2016, where he added a goal and an assist.

Notes: In what will be the 10th all-time regular-season meeting with New Mexico, the Real Monarchs will look to throw a wrench in United’s postseason plans. Real Monarchs are 27-53-17 all-time on the road, while New Mexico United is 13-5-14 all-time as hosts.
