Man of the Match: 17-year-old midfielder Leo Torres dominated the first half for the Monarchs, recording his first professional goal and added another to record to a brace that boosted the hosts on to a first-ever victory over Austin Bold FC. In addition to his two-goal contribution, Torres won three duels and kept solid pressure on the Austin defense with a 70% passing accuracy in the opponents’ half of the pitch.

Telling Stat: Real Salt Lake Academy goalkeeper Fernando Delgado earned his first professional start for the Real Monarchs between the pipes, officially making him the youngest goalkeeper in professional soccer at 15 years, 2 months and 22 days. Delgado recorded three saves and two clearances in the match.

What You Missed: Newly acquired midfielder Leo Torres earned his first start for the Real Monarchs, his first since arriving on loan from San Antonio FC on September 29. Additionally, Head Coach Jamison Olave missed tonight’s match due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols and was replaced on the bench by Assistant Coach Cody Worden.
