Man of the Match: After conceding early in the first half, 17-year-old goalkeeper Jeff Dewsnup faced an attacking onslaught throughout the rest of the match. Bold FC sent 25 crosses, earned 10 corners and recorded a total of 17 shots, but Dewsnup was up for the challenge. The young goalkeeper recorded four saves on five shots faced, including a fantastic double-save in the second half to keep the Monarchs within striking distance until the final whistle.
Telling Stat: Despite winning possession in the match, the Monarchs were unable to match the home side’s attack. Bold FC outshot the Monarchs 17-6, including a 5-2 advantage in shots on target and earned 10 corners to the visitors’ one. On the defensive side of the ball the Monarchs were whistled for a total of 18 fouls, with Austin being whistled for eight.
What You Missed: Veteran defender James Moberg reclaimed his spot in Head Coach Jamison Olave’s starting lineup for the first time since returning from an injury that forced him to miss nine consecutive matches this season. Additionally, the Monarchs starting lineup featured two 15-year-olds, defender Haroun Conteh and midfielder Julio Benitez.
