HERRIMAN, Utah (February 15, 2024) - Utah Royals FC top draft pick Ally Sentnor has been called in by the U-20 USWNT for a pair of matches in Bogota against the Colombia U-20 WNT, the hosts of the 2024 Under-20 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The forward was drafted first overall in the 2024 NWSL Draft after starting all 23 matches for the University of North Carolina, scoring 11 goals and providing seven assists in her redshirt sophomore season. Sentnor was named the 2023 ACC Midfielder of the Year, first-team All-ACC, and third-team All-American during her time as a Tar Heel.
She has represented the United States at the U-17, U-18, and U-20 levels, most recently competing at the 2023 CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship, scoring four goals to help the team qualify for the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. During the tournament, she served as co-captain and was nominated for 2023 US Soccer Young Female Player of the Year.
U.S. head coach Tracey Kevins has named 20 players to the roster, six of whom will be rookies in the NWSL this coming season, 12 college players and two youth club players. Twelve players on the roster helped the USA qualify for the upcoming World Cup via the 2023 Concacaf Women’s U-20 Championship in the Dominican Republic.
“I couldn’t ask for better matches to help prepare our team for the World Cup,” said Kevins. “To play away against a talented South American opponent and get to experience the host country for the World Cup -- the climate, the fans, the fields, the culture -- is something that will be extremely valuable for us. I really want to thank the NWSL clubs for their collaboration and communication and I know their players will get some quality games that will benefit their growth before they head into their first pro seasons.”
