HERRIMAN, Utah (April 15, 2024) - Utah Royals FC announced today the signing of New Zealand midfielder Macey Leigh Fraser to a three year contract with an option for a fourth from Wellington Phoenix of the Australian A-League for an undisclosed fee. The midfielder has spent the last three seasons with the Phoenix academy and signed her first professional deal in the summer of 2023.
Fraser has appeared in 19 matches so far this 2023-24 season for Wellington Phoenix, starting 18 of them and logging 1,581 minutes. She has two goals so far in her international career and was named player of the match in her debut, a 3-0 win over Tonga.
“Macey is a player that can make an immediate impact on our team. Not only does she have the temperament, but has the technical and physical abilities to succeed in the NWSL.” said Sporting Director Kelly Cousins. “We are excited to welcome her to the club and to watch her develop here in Utah.”
The attacking minded midfielder is set to arrive in Utah pending international visa approval. When she joins the group, she will look to establish herself within a young Royals squad that is finding its footing in the NWSL.
