Utah Royals FC is thrilled to announce the addition of midfielder Dana Foederer to the Royals family for the 2024 season.

The Netherlands U23 international was born in Veldhoven, Netherlands and joins the Royals from Dutch first division side Fortuna Sittard.

Here are three fast facts to get you up to speed on the new URFC midfielder:

1. Young But Experienced

Still only 21, Foederer has already completed four and a half seasons in the Dutch Eredivisie. After making 6 appearances for PSV in her first two seasons, she played in all but one game for Heerenveen at the age of 19. Following a move to Fortuna Sittard, Foederer then played and started all but one of Fortuna’s matches that season, helping her Club finish 3rd and scoring twice. This season, before her move to Utah, the experienced midfielder played 10 of Fortuna’s 11 games so far. Safe to say she’ll be ready to hit the ground running once she lands in Salt Lake City.

2. On The International Scene

Foederer has made a steady climb up the Netherlands Women’s National Team set-up, rising from the U17 level to U19 to U20, and most recently with the U23s. The young midfielder will look to make the step up to the senior national team level under the stewardship of head coach Amy Rodriguez. Holland has a storied international team, finishing runners up in 2019 in the Women’s World Cup, and winning the European Championship in 2017.

3. Hear It From Her First!

Foederer can’t wait to get started at URFC. Hear what she has to say about her initial thoughts of becoming a Royal:

“I’m very very VERY excited to make this move, it feels like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Coming to the NWSL and to the Utah Royals represents the perfect chance to improve myself as a player and as a human being. Everything in the U.S. football scene is bigger and better; the facilities and the stadium are the best in the world, and I cannot wait to get to know the fans and be a part of the community

Obviously I’ve spoken with Amy, and I have a really good feeling about the chance to play for her.

I’ve watched her play for the USA, as a player her level was amazing – she is a winner, pure and simple, she knows what it takes to win and all of us on the team will buy into her vision and do everything we can to find success. I am sure we will all do anything to win, everything to support each other and to make the community proud.

I consider myself a technical player, and I expect to fit in very well to her vision for how we want to play. I like to keep possession of the ball, we won’t just kick and run, there are so many reasons this is the perfect move for me to come play for the Utah Royals.”
