Man of the Match: With a free-kick goal in the first minute of added time, forward Milan Iloski netted his third goal in as many matches to keep the Monarchs’ hopes alive. Playing behind the striker in the first half and up top in the second, Iloski recorded a 83.3% passing accuracy and all three of the club’s shots on goal.


Telling Stat: In what was a physical and intense match from start to finish, the Monarchs were whistled for 13 fouls compared to seven for the Locomotive. The match included five cards between the sides, including a straight red card for Locomotive midfielder Bryam Rebellon after kicking Ibrahim Bance, forcing El Paso to 10-men for the final 21 minutes.


What You Missed: Forward Charlie Wehan officially signed with the Monarchs on Wednesday, June 16 and made his professional debut for the club two days later in Head Coach Jamison Olave’s starting lineup. In addition, Ecuadorian midfielder Josimar Quintero made his club debut as a first half substitute in the 31st minute.


So What: The loss keeps the Real Monarchs in seventh place in the Mountain Division, but still only six points out of the top four. The club now heads to the Pacific Northwest to take on the Tacoma Defiance at Cheney Stadium for a midweek match on Wednesday, June 23 at 8:00 p.m. MT.
