Real Monarchs SLC rolled over Utah Valley University, 4-0 Monday afternoon during a preseason friendly at Zions Bank Training Center.
Real Monarchs scored early in the ninth minute after Luis Palma sent a cross from the left side for Maikel Chang to finish. Just three minutes later, Jack Blake was 1v1 and easily slipped the ball past the UVU goalkeeper.
Lionel Abate Etoundi scored in the second half, after receiving a pass inside of the penalty area in the 35thminute. Real Monarchs did not give Utah Valley many scoring opportunities and held them at the break ahead 3-0.
At the break, Real Monarchs made changes to the front and brought in Andrew Brody, Josh Heard, and Damian German. In the 50thminute, Noah Powder was sent off the field as he received a red card for trying to stop a UVU breakaway. Playing a man down did not affect the team, as a trialist scored in the 72ndminute off a deflected ball and scored a one-touch shot.
Utah Valley was unable to answer even with playing up a man for the remainder of the match. Real Monarchs dominated in possession and defended a clean sheet with 10 players on the field as the match concluded 4-0.
