RSL arrives in San Jose – the site of the club’s second-highest total of road wins in its 14-year MLS history (five) – looking to bounce back from last weekend’s disappointing, 2-2 home draw with Rocky Mountain Cup rival Colorado. FW Joao Plata assisted on an early Damir Kreilach header and then slotted home a goal of his own – Plata’s third in the last two weeks – to give RSL a 2-0 lead in the 18th minute, prior to a 71-minute lightning delay at Rio Tinto Stadium. A Colorado penalty kick cut the lead just after play resumed, with a late 88th-minute equalizer forcing RSL to settle for the draw.

Head Coach Mike Petke’s team – with a 10-game unbeaten run at home and an overall 2018 mark of 8-1-2 in Sandy (outscoring opponents 22-9), losing only the season opener on March 10 to LAFC –return to the Wasatch on August 4 against Chicago and August 11 against Montreal, the club now boasting a 17-5-5 home mark in MLS action during the Petke era. Next Saturday, Aug. 4 against Chicago will see RSL wear its alternate white kits at “The RioT” for the first time in MLS action, in support of a 20,000-strong “whiteout” game presented by LifeVantage, the first of its kind in Sandy, where the club has enjoyed a prominent home-field advantage since October, 2008, boasting a dominant 114-28-47 mark at Rio Tinto Stadium.
