With the NCAA season beginning over the last several weeks, some Real Salt Lake Academy graduates have begun their collegiate careers while others continue to make their mark for schools nationwide, making strides to help their respective universities succeed both on and off the field.
RSL has sent players to college programs across the country from UCLA to Maryland in the hopes of one day becoming the next professional to begin their career at the academy. Here is an update on a few of the many RSL graduates playing at the collegiate level in 2017:
Clemson
Tanner Dieterich – (Grad. 2016) – Played 75 minutes in the team’s 1-0 loss to NC State on September 8. Dieterich has started all five matches for the Tigers this year while serving as the team captain.
University of New Mexico
Lucas Seligman – DF, (Grad. 2013) – The redshirt senior played every minute of New Mexico’s Grange and Ashwill Invitational tournament to help the Lobo’s to the tournament win. Seligman has played 191 total minutes thus far in 2017.
Alex Vedamanikam – FW, (Grad. 2017) – In his first year as a University of New Mexico Lobo, Vedamanikam has earned 246 total minutes across six matches in 2017, scoring one goal against California State University Northridge on September 8 in the Grange and Ashwill Invitational.
Aaron Herrera – DF, (Grad. 2015) – Earned Tournament MVP at the Grange and Ashwill Invitational, scoring the winning goal in New Mexico’s win over UC Irvine, his first goal of the year. A member of the U-20 USMNT, Herrera has been a mainstay in the Lobo lineup since arriving in Albuquerque in 2015 and has started every game this season, having only missed 11 total minutes.

Sam Gleadle – FW, (Grad. 2014) – As a senior Gleadle has played in all six, regular season matches for the Lobos this year having scored one goal in a game at Marquette on September 4. Gleadle has registered 447 minutes to his name this season.

University of Washington
Elijah Rice – FW, (Grad. 2016) – Rice has started four matches for the Huskies this season playing 292 minutes and scoring three goals in three shots on frame. Playing up top for the Huskies, Rice has already equaled his goal total from a season ago.
University of Portland
Billy Garton – MF, (Grad. 2016) – Has played in three games in his redshirt freshman season for the Pilots, coming on as a substitute in all three of those matches.

Utah Valley University
Alec Felix – MF, (Grad. 2016) – 338 total minutes thus far in 2017 for UVU, starting every game in central midfield for the Wolverines.

Gui Leme – FW, (Grad. 2016) – 248 total minutes thus far in 2017, scoring one goal against Cal State Fullerton and one goal against SDSU. Earned the Western Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week for Sept. 4-10 for his two-goal performance over that time.
UCLA
Alex Knox – DF, (Grad. 2016) – As a defender for the Bruins, Knox has played 204 minutes this season making three starts. Helped UCLA earn the 1-0 shutout win against UNLV on September 11.

Erik Holt –DF, (Grad. 2015) In three starts for the Bruins in 2017, Holt has registered one goal in 368 minutes playing every minute available to him thus far.

University of Maryland
Miles Stray – MF, (Grad. 2016) – 247 minutes played in the back line for the Terrapins thus far in 2017.
Amar Sejdic – (Grad. 2015) – Sejdic has played 500 total minutes for the Terrapins this season placing four shots on goal. Sejedic has started every match this season for Maryland.

Paul Bin – (Grad. 2015) – Has seen eight minutes of action for Maryland this season and has been a healthy option off the bench for Head Coach Sasho Cirovski.
