SANDY, Utah – (Wednesday, May 15, 2019) – Utah Royals FC defender Rachel Corsie has been named to the Scotland Women’s National Team roster by Head Coach Michelle Kerr for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.
Corsie will join Scotland after Utah Royals FC’s match on May 19 at the North Carolina Courage. Scotland will face Jamaica on Tuesday, May 28 at Hampden Park in Glasgow, Scotland in the team’s official send-off match prior to the team’s departure to France. Scotland will open the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Group D on June 9 against England, followed by Japan on June 14 before finishing the group stage against Argentina on June 19. Corsie is expected to return prior to the end of the 2019 NWSL regular season.

Corsie receives the call-up carrying with her 108 appearances for Scotland having scored 16 goals for the senior side. She scored three goals in the Women's World Cup 2011 qualifying campaign as Scotland came agonizingly close to reaching the playoffs, finishing just one point behind Group 3 winners Denmark. Corise made her senior team debut on May 3, 2009 in a 2-0 loss to France. Since then she has led Scotland to its first-ever World Cup appearance, captaining the side to qualification finishing atop Group 2 in the UEFA qualification round.

Thus far in 2019, Corsie has played every minute of the National Women’s Soccer League season on the backline for Utah Royals FC, totaling 360 minutes to help the team to the second spot in the league after just four matches played.
Utah Royals FC visits the North Carolina Courage on Saturday at Sahlen’s Stadium at Wake Med Soccer Park. URFC currently sits second in the NWSL having won three of its first four matches of 2019. URFC returns home on May 25, playing host to the Orlando Pride at Rio Tinto Stadium.
