USWNT Book Ticket to 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup Final

The U.S. Women’s National Team has booked its ticket to its third World Cup final in as many tournaments with help from Utah Royals FC stars, beating England 2-1 in the semifinal round.

All three URFC players – Becky Sauerbrunn, Christen Press and Kelley O’Hara – representing the USWNT for this year’s tournament started the match with Sauerbrunn and Press playing the full 90 minutes while O’Hara played 87 minutes against England.

The USWNT began the match on the front foot when Utah Royals FC striker Christen Press connected a header that found its way inside the near post to give the Stars and Stripes the lead on ten minutes. Press’ goal marked her first of the tournament while URFC assisted on the goal.

England found its way back into the match when Ellen White turned home a shot inside the box in the 19th minute to level the scoring at one apiece.

The U.S. again took the lead in the 31st minute when Alex Morgan’s header easily found the back of the net on her 30th birthday, her sixth of the tournament.

The second half began heavily in England’s favor and though they had drawn the match level at 2-2, but after video review the goal was ruled offside and the USWNT’s lead remained intact. The USWNT used its staunch defense to see the match out, claiming the 2-1 victory.

The USWNT will now appear in its third final in as many tournaments, facing the winner of tomorrow’s Netherlands and Sweden semifinal. The 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup Final will be held on Sunday, July 7 in Lyon. The match can be seen live on FOX.
