Colette Smith and Becca Ritchie Join URFC Ahead of N.C. Courage Visit;
MF Alexa Newfield Waived
SANDY, UT (Thursday, July 19, 2018) – Utah Royals FC have signed FW Colette Smith and GK Becca Ritchie as national team replacement players for Friday’s home game against the N.C. Courage, Head Coach Laura Harvey and Managing Director Stephanie Lee announced today.The two players have been training as practice players with the squad this week.
M/F Colette Smith arrives at URFC after a successful campaign at Brigham Young University, where she appeared in 43 games and netted nine goals for the Cougars. Since then, Smith has become a mainstay starter for the UWS Real Salt Lake Women’s club, playing almost every minute last season.

Becca Ritchie
signs with the squad after multiple years as the starting goalkeeper for the Real Salt Lake Women’s WPS club in Utah. Ritchie was the starting goalkeeper for all four years of her college campaign at Weber State University, finishing with over 100 saves in the Big Sky Conference. She also recorded 27 saves last year during the summer UWS season.

Utah Royals FC have also waived MF Alexa Newfield from the roster. Newfield, 26, was drafted by FC Kansas City in the 2016 NWSL College Draft, where she made eight appearances and two starts in her debut season. Newfield registered 38 goals during her college career with Georgia and North Carolina.
