The RSL Academy U15 head into their second match of the group stage at the Generation Adidas Cup on the heels of a 3-1 victory over FC Dallas. The Claret-and-Cobalt will face FC Cincinnati on Sunday, April 10 at 2:00 p.m. MT.
Forward Zavier Gozo bagged a brace, including a penalty kick, while Luca Moisa scored the third. The win catapulted the team to first place in Group D, above Club Tijuana based on goal differential.
Gozo also earned an assist for his contribution to Moisa’s goal. Meanwhile, midfielder Dominic Berrios assisted Gozo’s second goal, securing the 3-1 win.
FC Cincinnati enters the match after a 3-2 loss to Mexico’s Club Tijuana. The team from Ohio is 10-9-3 (W-L-D) across all competitions this season. However, their wins have all come against independent clubs, with the exception of two victories over Minnesota United’s academy.Â
The winner of each group automatically earn a spot in the knockout round, with the remaining second place finishers being seeded and the top six of that group moving on.
Following Sunday’s match, the U15s will finish out the group stage against Club Tijuana on Monday, April 11 at 8:00 p.m. MT.
