The Real Salt Lake Academy U15’s opened MLS NEXT Flex with a dominant 6-0 win over Springfield SYC. Forward Axel Uriostegui netted his first hat trick of the season to help the team secure the three points, marking their third straight victory across all competitions.
The dominant result featured four different goal scorers with goals coming from forward Zavier Gozo, defender Luis Rivera, midfielder Gilberto Garcia and Uriostegui. Gozo’s goal was his sixth of the year with Rivera and Garcia’s goals being their first.
Rivera opened up his account with the first goal of the day to give the U15’s a 1-0 lead. Gozo found the back of the net before Uriostegui scored his first of an eventual three. Garcia got the fourth goal of the day before Uriostegui netted two more goals to finish off the hat trick, ending the game 6-0.
Goalkeeper Ty Rinker stood on his head in goal to keep the shutout and protect the dominant win. The shutout helped secure a spot at the top of the group after game one. The winner of each group of play clinches an automatic berth into the MLS Next Cup, a tournament in which the U15s will be seeking
