Three Real Salt Lake players have spent the latest FIFA International break with their respective national teams as Albert Rusnák, Jefferson Savarino and Shawn Barry have all seen playing time their respective national teams. Here is how each country faired with the RSL men:
Rusnák’s Slovakia hosted Ukraine in the UEFA Nation’s League B Group 1 match at the City Arena Trnava. Rusnák started the match and opened the scoring in the match’s sixth minute with a first-time strike from outside the box for his third goal in his last four starts for Slovakia. The ball made its way through traffic before flying past the goalkeeper for the early lead in just the sixth minute. Slovakia went on to claim a 4-1 victory over Ukraine on Friday with Rusnák playing the full 90 minutes. Rusnák played 58 minutes in Slovakia’s 1-0 loss to the Czech Republic on Monday.
Venezuela visited Oita, Japan last Friday, drawing with Japan 1-1 in its international friendly. Savarino came on as a second half substitute, coming on for Júnior Moreno in the 97th minute to help La Vinotinto earn the draw. Venezuela will play another friendly on Tuesday when it visits Iran at the Hamad bin Khalifa Stadium.
Lastly, RSL defender Shawn Barry and Puerto Rico visited Belize for a CONCACAF Nations League Qualifying match on Friday, narrowly falling to the hosts 1-0. Barry started and played the full 90 minutes in the loss in his side’s final match of 2018.
