Only five more days until Real Salt Lake kicks off the 2017 MLS season against Toronto FC at Rio Tinto Stadium and what better time to recognize The Captain … KB5 … Mr. Consistency … Kyle Beckerman.
He is as unique as they come in MLS and, now in his 11th season with RSL, has been synonymous with the rise of Real Salt Lake. He captained the club to the first MLS Cup title in 2009. He did the same as the Claret-and-Cobalt reached finals in the 2011 CONCACAF Champions League, 2013 U.S. Open Cup and 2013 MLS Cup finals.
Now, Captain Kyle is looking to put his stamp on his 11th season in Claret-and-Cobalt with a new-look club around him that has undergone an evolution in the last two years. With a slew of young players looking to make an impact around him, Beckerman will be the emotional leader of the team as RSL looks to continue its climb in the always-competitive Western Conference.
With bone-crunching tackles, the ability to command and link the back line to the front line and an occasional Becker-bomb goal, he is every bit the captain, leading RSL’s ship through the roughest of waters.
Come join the crew on Saturday and throughout the season at the RioT.
