SANDY, Utah - Real Salt Lake forward Alvaro Saboriowas called up on Monday to the Costa Rican national team for its March World Cup Qualifiers at the U.S. and against Jamaica.
Saborio and Los Ticos will play Hexagonal matches against the U.S. in Denver on March 22 before returning to Costa Rica to take on Jamaica in San Jose on March 26. Saborio, who scored a brace in RSL’s 2-0 win at San Jose on March 3, notched a goal and added an assist in Costa Rica’s Hexagonal-opening 2-2 tie at Panama on February 6.
The 30-year-old Saborio will miss Real Salt Lake's March 23 match at FC Dallas while with Costa Rica. He was one of three MLS players - along with Columbus's Jairo Arrieta and New York's Roy Miller - called up to manager Jorge Luis Pinto's 23-man squad.
Saborio will be available for RSL for this Saturday's home opener at Rio Tinto Stadium against the Colorado Rapids.
