Real Salt Lake U-17s 0-1 Seattle Sounders U-17s
Real Salt Lake U-17s played its second match of the 2018 Generation adidas Cup Fall regional on Saturday afternoon, falling 1-0 to Seattle Sounders U-17s. In the early goings of the first half, both sides traded physical play in one another’s half to see set piece opportunities fall to both sides. The best opportunity of the first half fell to RSL’s Paul Paul Gindiri who after a clever run, received the ball to generate a shot inside the box but his half-volley comfortably found the waiting arms of Seattle goalkeeper Conrad Lee.
Seattle came of the halftime break the aggressor and nearly found the opening goal just six minutes in when Sota Kitahara struck a curling freekick that was deflected onto the crossbar by RSL goalkeeper Christian Olivares. In the match’s final minute, Lee generated the biggest save of regulation, making himself big to deny an RSL breakaway that looked like a sure goal. Then in second half stoppage time, an own goal from RSL’s Mateo Palomino decided the match as his unfortunate deflection trickled into the net to give the Sounders the win.
