Stories to Watch:Â
The Road to Playoffs
With just three games remaining, Real Salt Lake currently sits in seventh place just above the playoff line with 45 points. Just five points separate fourth place and ninth place, with RSL firmly in the middle of the pack. Unlike the teams directly above and below, RSL has three games to go, while the remaining teams have just two, meaning RSL has a chance at nine points compared to the others six. Additionally, the teams in the playoff race with RSL play each other which prevents every team above it from winning out. Finally, RSL is one of only two teams left jostling for a place in the playoffs that still has a positive goal differential, meaning should they tie another team based on points, RSL will receive the higher seed. Â
The Path to History
Midfielders Damir Kreilach and Albert Rusnák are inching closer to history as they both look to become the first RSL player to record double digits in both goals and assists. Kreilach added a goal against Dallas last Wednesday to bring his total to 15 goals and eight assists. Meanwhile, Rusnak added a goal to bring his total to eight goals and 11 assists. Currently, Kreilach is tied for the fourth-highest combined goals and assists (23) total with Valentin Castellanos of New York City FC.
Connections: The two sides do not currently have any direct connections to one another. However, Justen Glad, Aaron Herrera and David Ochoa have played with JT Marcinkowski and Jackson Yueill on the U-23 U.S. Men’s National Team.
