HERRIMAN, Utah (Friday, October 14, 2022) – Real Salt Lake (12-11-11, 47 pts., 7th West) prepares this week for the 2022 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs, the Utah side kicking off this Sunday, October 16, with a 1:00 p.m. MT kickoff at Q2 Stadium against Austin FC (16-10-8, 56 pts., 2nd West). The Round One matchup kicks off at 1:00 p.m. MT, and will be nationally televised via ABC, with Jon Champion and Taylor Twellman on the call. Additional RSL coverage for that game will occur via ESPN700 AM (English radio, starting at 11:00 a.m. MT), 102.3 La Gran D (Spanish radio) and www.RSL.com.
Real Salt Lake will host two watch parties Sunday to celebrate the Club’s 2022 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs participation, with an all-ages event on the pitch at America First Field in Sandy and a 21+ event in downtown Salt Lake City at Beer Bar, presented by Bohemian Brewery & Michelob Ultra. Following a second consecutive “Decision Day” qualification for Real Salt Lake – albeit one not quite as dramatic as a year ago, which saw RSL ride a “Damiracle” – the 95th-minute Kreilach stunner at Kansas City – RSL has qualified for the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs for the fourth time in the last five years (2020). With a win/advancement on Sunday, RSL would become the lone MLS team to progress in four of the last five postseasons. Sunday’s ATX v RSL winner advances to play the winner of the West 3/6 matchup between Dallas & Minnesota, who battle later on Sunday. RSL would travel, ATX would host the Western Conference Semifinal on Sunday, Oct. 23 on ESPN 6:00p MT.
Sunday’s match will be broadcast nationally via ABC TV, with verified streaming on the ESPN app, as well as ESPN700 AM radio, whose live pre-game coverage from Spencer Checketts kicks off at 11:00 a.m. MT. Spanish-speaking fans can tune in on KBMG Latino 106.3 FM, La Gran D 102.3 FM and KTUB 1600 AM for the local radio broadcast.
