Beginning as International Women’s Day in 1911 before becoming Women’s History week in 1980 and now Women’s History Month since 1987, March is a time to celebrate the contributions of women in American society. The state of Utah has a long history of women fighting for equal rights, including a strenuous and hard-fought suffrage movement towards the end of the 19th century.
To celebrate Women’s History Month and to recognize the achievements and progress made by women in Utah, we’re highlighting seven of our favorite local female-owned businesses throughout the Beehive State. For a comprehensive list of nearly 2,000 businesses founded and or operated by women throughout the entire state, you can visit Utah Women Owned.
