Real Salt Lake players featured for their respective national teams across several competitions this week as part of this month’s FIFA international window. Here’s how RSL’s stars fared with their national teams:
Corey Baird
The U.S. Men’s National Team faced Cuba on Friday, earning an emphatic 7-0 win at Audi Field in Washington D.C. RSL striker Corey Baird was on the bench for the match and did not feature. Next up for Baird and the USMNT is a match against Canada on Tuesday evening in its second CONCACAF Nation’s League match.
Douglas Martinez
Making his senior national team debut for Honduras, Douglas Martinez started and played eight minutes and notched the second goal in the team’s 2-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday night. Martinez’s strike came in the 90th minute when his one-touch shot crept inside the near post. Honduras then faced Martinique on Monday where it claimed a 1-0 win and Martinez entered as a second half substitute to play the final 11 minutes.
Jefferson Savarino
In Venezuela’s second match of the international window, Jefferson Savarino came on as a second half substitute for the final 16 minutes of Venezuela’s 2-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago.
Albert Rusnák
Rusnák and Slovakia faced Paraguay on Sunday in a friendly match, playing to a 1-1 draw in which Rusnák did not feature.
Sam Johnson
Johnson again captained Liberia against Chad on Tuesday morning as Liberia fell 5-4 in penalties to Chad after the aggregate series ended at 1-1.
