Postgame Quotes from RSL v SKC.
As both teams felt out the game, both backlines were forced to adjust to the snowy field conditions as the ball stuck to the surface, making for awkward clearances and half chances. In the final minute of the second half, Sporting KC broke the deadlock when Ilie Sanchez skipped home a shot from the top of the six-yard box that trickled into the back of the net.
In the 48th minute, SKC doubled its advantage over RSL when Erik Hurtado rounded Ochoa to make it 2-0. Sporting KC nearly added to its advantage in the 66th minute but Gianluca Busio’s shot from inside the penalty area struck the near post and bounced away from danger.
In the waning minutes of the match, RSL threw numbers forward in search of a goal that wasn’t to be as the match ended 2-0.
