FRISCO, Texas (Sunday, April 10, 2022) — The Real Salt Lake Academy U17s (0-0-1, 1 point, 3rd in group) look to bounce back from a penalty kick loss to Montreal in their second match of Generation Adidas Cup group play against Mexico’s Tigres UANL (1-0-0, 3 points, 1st in group) on April 11th with kickoff at 12 p.m. MT. The match will be streamed live on YouTube and Twitch.
RSL U17s fought hard and took the lead in the second half of their game against Montreal thanks to a goal from Izzy Amparo, but a late equalizer from the Canadians sent the match to penalties. While goalkeeper Blake Kelly had two saves, the U17s fell 6-7, taking only one point from the match.
Meanwhile, Tigres UANL looks to maintain momentum after winning their first match of the group stage against Houston 2-0. Tigres is one of seven Liga MX clubs participating in the GA Cup.
The winner of each group automatically earns a spot in the knockout round, with the remaining second-place finishers being seeded and the top six of that group moving on.
