The RSL Academy played in Day 2 of the MLS Generation adidas Cup Spring Regional Qualifies, taking on the Inter Miami CF affiliates. The U-15 side claimed a one goal win to secure three points while the U-17 side fell in a heated match.

The RSL Academy U-17s rounded out Saturday’s action in a heated competition against its Inter Miami counterpart that saw the team fall to a 2-1 scoreline. The match started off quickly and heated as the teams competed for the ball with fierce tackles. The first half was balanced play as RSL got on the board quick and early through a powerful shot from Esequiel Coronel that flew into the top right corner. However, Miami answered shortly after as Edison Azcona slid a shot between RSL goalkeeper Lucas Hatsios.
The second-half saw Miami control possession of the game keeping Real Salt Lake on the defense as Hatsios came up big on multiple occasions making saves to keep the scoreline equal. Miami was able to double its lead however behind a striking goal from Dairon Reyes in the 53rdminute. RSL rallied to stage a comeback but was unable to find the equalizing goal before the call of the final whistle.

The RSL Academy U-15s picked up a critical 1-0 win over the Inter Miami affiliate after Diego Lopez converted a penalty kick opportunity in the 56th minute.
The defensive-minded RSL Academy packed in deep to hold off an early offensive from Inter Miami, testing RSL goalkeeper Ramses Martinez into few big saves early on. As the RSL side tried to bring itself out of its own half, its attack continued to get lost in transition or shut down by the Miami midfield, leaving the RSL Academy wanting of a threatening attack. The compact defensive however put in the work to stave up of the Miami attack and go into the break with a goal to show for either side.
The RSL Academy offense sparked to life quickly after the opening whistle as early on, Marcus Vazquez took a quick shot that looked for the far post but was easily saved by the Miami goalkeeper. RSL kept possession using creativity to attack and pressure the Miami defense, resulting in a penalty kick opportunity in the 56th minute that Lopez cleanly converted, providing RSL with the go ahead goal it would use to earn three points.
