HERRIMAN, Utah (Wednesday, October 23, 2022) – Real Salt Lake Academy’s Omar Marquez, Luca Moisa, Axel Uriostegui and Juan Gio Villa have been named to the U.S. U-15 Youth National Team for a Domestic Training Camp in Kansas City, Kansas from October 23 through October 30.
All four players were previously selected to participate in the U.S. U-15 Youth National Team Identification Camp this past August and based on their performances were chose by Head Coach Tom Heinemann to attend the upcoming Domestic Training Camp.
Marquez currently leads the U-15s with three assists this season, all of which contributed to victories for the Claret-and-Cobalt. Moisa has also recorded two assists thus far, assisting Khododad Panahi in finding the opening goal in the team’s 2-1 victory over Colorado Rapids, and most recently helping Armani Haro secure a brace against Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
Meanwhile, Uriostegui and Villa have each netted a goal apiece so far this season. Uriostegui scored the lone goal in the 1-0 win over Seattle Sounders, while Villa scored the third goal in the 3-1 win at San Jose Earthquakes.Â
Real Salt Lake Academy's four players are among the most to hail from a single club, joining LAFC and Philadelphia Union as the only academies to have four athletes selected for the roster.Â
The RSL Academy is set host Ballistic United on Saturday, October 29 at Zions Bank Training Facility, as well as Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Sunday, October 30. Led by Head Coach Jordan Allen, the Real Salt Lake U-15 team is currently 4-1-1 (W-L-D) through the first six games, earning 13 out of a possible 18 points, while currently sitting atop the West Division in MLS Next.
