Real Salt Lake U-17 and U-19 sides returned home from Northern California after facing Sacramento Republic FC in its first road trip of the 2017 season as the RSL U-17 side continued their hot start to the season, downing Republic FC 3-2 while the U19s won, 2-1.
For the U-17s, FW Benjamin Ortiz added two more goals to his name in the win over Republic FC, including the eventual game winner in minute 83 to help his side remain perfect on the year. MF Julian Vazquez also recorded his first goal of the year in the win. For the U-19s, MFs Richard Ledezma and Glademir Mendoza each notched goals for the Claret-and-Cobalt, helping the team move to 2-1-0 in 2017.
Both academy goalkeepers played 90 minutes in each of their respective games as Tyler Kirberg started in goal for the U-17s and David Ochoa started between the pipes for the U-19s.
Up next for the RSL Academy is a visit from Arsenal FC with games slated for Saturday at America First Field with the U-17s beginning at 11:00 am MT with the U-19s following at 1:30 pm MT.
