The Real Salt Lake Academy U-15's will look to become he first team in league history to advance to back-to-back MLS NEXT Cup finals, but first they will need to defeat Sacramento Republic in the Semifinal round on Thursday, June 30 at 6:00 p.m. MT.
Real Salt Lake earned its spot in the semifinal by vanquishing Chicago Fire 1-0 in the Quarterfinal round. Forward Zavier Gozo netted his third goal of the tournament to secure the win, assisted by Luca Moisa. Meanwhile, goalkeeper Will Mackay made several saves to earn the clean sheet.
On the other hand, Sacramento advanced to the semifinal after defeating New York Red Bulls 3-0, behind a hat trick from Omar Marquez.
This will be the second meeting between these two sides this year in February of this year. Sacramento took the upper hand, earning the 5-1 victory on their home field while giving RSL its first loss since September.
