Real Salt Lake U-15 3 – 3 Portland Timbers FC U-15

A 10-Man Real Salt Lake U-15 team played to a 3-3 draw in its first match against the Portland Timbers FC U-15s in the first match in the newly touted DA Cup Tournament. The draw came behind a brace from MF Anwar Ben Rhouma Torres and a dramatic stoppage-time goal from MF Aldo Carmona.

The RSL U-15s was shown a red card as GK Gavin Beavers rushed to stop an attack but came too far out of the box and handled the ball. Portland was able to convert the resulting freekick to take the lead before finding a second goal with some link-up play to get around the RSL U-15 defense. Torres pulled one back from the spot on a penalty kick and then again beautifully placed a freekick from more than 25-yards out into the top corner of the far post. Portland got a third near the end of the second half with a shot from a tight angle, but RSL leveled the scoring when Carmona cleaned up a deflected shot. Paired with heroics from GK Ramses Martinez, the Real Salt Lake U-15s were able to come away with the draw to open the season.
