Welcome to the first edition of the Real Salt Lake Youth Soccer Update. This regular release will include information on matches, tournaments, events and achievements featuring RSL’s youth initiatives.
RSL-ARIZONA U-18 TEAM MOVES TO 2-0-1 IN DEVELOPMENTAL ACADEMY SEASON:
The Real Salt Lake-Arizona Academy U-18 team drew this weekend, tying Chivas USA’s U-18 side 0-0 at the Grande Sports World in Casa Grande, Ariz. on Saturday morning. The team is now 2-0-1 on the Developmental Academy season and sits in second-place in the West Conference’s Southwest Division, trailing first-place Chivas on goal difference. The U-18’s have next weekend off, returning to action with a game at the San Diego Surf on Oct. 13.
RSL-ARIZONA U-16’S SMASH CHIVAS USA 7-2 TO MAINTAIN PERFECT 3-0-0 RECORD:
The U-16 squad got a brilliant result on Saturday, defeating its Chivas USA counterparts 7-2 at the Grande Sports World. FW Sebastian Saucedo (Park City, Utah) scored three goals in the span of 24 minutes to lead the U-16’s to victory, with MF Brooks Lennon (Scottsdale, Ariz.) chipping in two goals for the Claret-and-Cobalt.
The U-16 team is now a perfect 3-0-0 in the Developmental Academy season, sitting in first place in the Southwest Division. Like the U-18’s, the U-16’s also have next weekend off, traveling to Southern California to take on the San Diego Surf on Oct. 13.

ABOUT THE U.S. SOCCER DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY:
The U.S Soccer Development Academy is a nationwide youth development initiative, organized by the U.S. Soccer Federation, featuring 78 of the top youth teams in the country competing in a league system at both the U-18 and U-16 levels. The 78 youth programs, including one U.S. Youth National Team in each age group, are divided into 10 geographically based divisions, each of which will send a single qualifier to the national finals after the regular season concludes in late June.
