Stories to Watch:
Welcome into the Fold
During the international break, long awaited forward Bobby Wood joined the team in Utah and is available for selection for Friday’s match. Additionally, Real Salt Lake signed two new players in Jony Menendez and Toni Datkovic, both of whom have not yet joined the team.
Back and Better Than Ever
Midfielder Everton Luiz, who sustained an injury after the first game of the season at Minnesota United, has been back training with the team during the break and may make his return to the pitch after nearly two months off.
Nice to See You Again
During the international break goalkeeper David Ochoa spent extensive time with the United States Men’s National Team, on the roster for the friendlies against Switzerland and Costa Rica, as well as the Nations League tournament. Because of this he missed the team’s last match against Minnesota United, but will be back and available for Friday’s match.
Connections: Due to the ongoing pandemic Real Salt Lake and Vancouver Whitecaps have been sharing Rio Tinto Stadium as both of their home stadiums. Since March, RSL has hosted the Whitecaps, with them fully based out of Rio Tinto Stadium and training at America First Field. This will be the first time the two sides go against one another since Vancouver made the temporary move to Utah.
