SALE LAKE CITY (June 27, 2019) — Real Salt Lake, Utah Royals FC and Real Monarchs announced today that the clubs have entered into a partnership with City Creek. The new partnership will focus on healthy lifestyles, fitness and soccer.
To kick off this collaboration, a new soccer-themed children’s play area was opened in the City Creek Center food court to replace the original dinosaur play area, which has been a popular destination for families since 2012 when the Center opened.
“The dinosaurs have been well-loved, but they are ready for retirement, and we are ready for a new play area,” said Linda Wardell, General Manager of City Creek Center. “We are so excited to celebrate the Utah Royals FC, Real Monarchs and of course, Real Salt Lake with a soccer-themed play area. The new play area will certainly be fun for kids – but we think adults will love to look at it, too!”
The play area features soccer-themed activities for children and a mural on the walls representing the three clubs and their collective place in the Salt Lake community. Thursday’s launch was the culmination of the long-dreamt collaboration.
“We spent over a year planning and trying to get it just right, but I had no idea how well it would come out,” Real Salt Lake Owner Dell Loy Hansen said. “Visitors to Salt Lake will know that Real Salt Lake is at the epicenter of this community and we’re proud to send that message.”
