Stories to Watch:
The Road to Playoffs
Following several midweek matches RSL fell to eighth place in the West, just one point out of the final playoff position and was passed by LA Galaxy, Minnesota and Vancouver, all of whom played on Wednesday night. However, Real Salt Lake can regain its previous fifth-place position with a win over Chicago. The Club will also carry a game in-hand over the rest of the Western Conference into next weekâs match at FC Dallas. Saturdayâs opposition are officially eliminated from playoff contention in the Eastern Conference but a result for RSL would bring them within striking distance of the Portland Timbers, who currently occupy the Westâs fourth-place position, the final spot for a guaranteed home playoff match.
All Eyes on Them
This past weekend Damir Kreilach and Albert RusnĂĄk inched closer to history, as they both added to their totals to become the first RSL player to record double digits in both goals and assists. Kreilach added a goal and two assists against Colorado last Saturday to bring his total to 14 goals and eight assists. Meanwhile, Rusnak added an assist to bring his total to seven goals and 11 assists. Currently, Kreilach is tied for the fourth-highest combined goals and assists (22) total with Ola Kamara of D.C. United. Additionally, with his goal against the Rapids, Kreilach made club-history, scoring in his fifth-consecutive match.
Connections: Real Salt Lake captain Albert Runsak previously played with Chicago Fire FC defender Boris Sekulic, as they both represented their home country of Slovakia during the 2018 Kingâs Cup.
