HERRIMAN, Utah (Friday, June 7, 2019) – Real Monarchs SLC (3-6-3, 12 points, 15 West) returns home to Herriman, Utah to host Rio Grande Valley FC at Zions Bank Stadium. The match is set for Saturday, June 8th where the evening kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m. MT.
Pups at the Pitch night will take place during Saturday’s contest, where fans can bring their dogs to Zions Bank Stadium to watch the match. Tickets that include a seat for one human and one dog are available for $20 and must be purchased in advance. Dog owners will receive a collapsible dog bowl upon arrival into the stadium. After a tough 2-1 loss on the road at Providence Park against Portland Timbers 2 on May 29, the Monarchs saw its winless skid continue, having lost four games in its last five. The Monarchs struck first toward the end of the first half as FW Douglas Martinez expertly put away a shot into the top right corner of the net. Portland responded with a second-half rally that saw the home side notch two goals and shut down a late offensive push from the Monarchs to hold on to the full three points at the end of the night.
The Monarchs return home to host Rio Grande Valley FC Toros in the first 2019 contest between the two. Throughout the 2018 season, the two sides met twice in matches that saw both teams pick up three points. The Monarchs earned a 2-0 win over the Toros at Zions Bank Stadium, before dropping a 2-1 result on the road in Texas later in the year. As the Monarchs look to improve its standing in the Western Conference, it will play RGVFC at home where it holds a record of 2-1-0 over Saturday’s visitors.
