HERRIMAN, Utah (Friday, April 5, 2019) – Real Monarchs SLC is set to welcome Reno 1868 FC to Zions Bank Stadium on Saturday, April 6 with the match set to kick off at 1:00p MT. Head Coach Martín Vasquez leads his side back into Zions Bank Stadium seeking the full three points after last week’s visit to Las Vegas.
A “Medieval Day Family Four Pack” ticket special highlights game day festivities in Herriman with fans able to purchase four tickets to Saturday’s match and four turkey legs for just $32. The clash on Saturday afternoon will see the two sides meet for the first time since last season’s USL Cup Playoffs Knockout Round match at Zions Bank Stadium. A match that Monarchs fans and 1868 FC fans look upon differently, Saturday’s contest could be one of possible significance for the remainder of the 2019 season. In the last season’s USL Cup Playoffs, Reno claimed a last-gasp victory over the Monarchs in stoppage time to move further into the playoffs.
The Monarchs are coming off of its first defeat of the 2019 regular season. The Monarchs visited Las Vegas Lights FC last weekend that saw a tense affair end 1-0 in favor of Lights FC. Prior to its match at Las Vegas, the Monarchs claimed an emphatic 5-0 victory over LA Galaxy II in its most recent outing at Zions Bank Stadium.

For 2019, the Monarchs return a familiar core of players from the 2018 season as DFs James Moberg, Kalen Ryden, Konrad Plewa, Andrew Brody & Stanley Okumu lead the backline of one of the league’s most elite sides. MFs Maikel Chang, Jack Blake, Josh Heard and Masta Kacher all return carrying with them a slew of experience into their second season in the midfield with the Monarchs.
New faces in the squad include players with ample USL Championship experience like DF Noah Powder, FW Douglas Martinez. Panamanian international MF Ricardo Avila highlights the season’s newcomers as the World Cup veteran is joined by FW Lionel Etoundi, MF Damian German and Honduran youth international FW Luis Palma. RSL Academy productsJordan Pena and Steve Jasso also exemplify the growth pipeline between the Academy and the professional ranks for the 2019 season. GKs Todd Morton and Evan Finney round out the list of new faces set to contribute to the Monarchs during the 2019 season.
