Coach Jamison Olave
On Damian German’s Performance:
“Great. He scored. He’s a forward and we’re going to rate him by scoring, by being proactive in the final tear and that’s what he’s doing so I rate him really high.”
On the team’s defense:
“We were talking before the game to just embrace the game with the right mentality. It doesn’t matter where our thoughts are with the standings. With the backline, they had a great game defensively. That’s why we dominated.”
On next week’s game against Fresno:
“[It will take] the right mentality. They’re going to be a really hard team to play against. They have experienced players. We haven’t been getting points while playing away. This week we need to come out with a good plan to go there and get a good result."
On Cristian Calix’s Performance:
“He came in and touched 3 or 4 balls and he was effective. I think what he showed today made me happy because we can see, even today and the week that he had in training, he can impact the game. He’s going to help us. That will be good for the team.”
Defender Kalen Ryden
On scoring a goal tonight:
“I feel good. Usually, I only score goals in my head. I stayed high after a cleared ball and the ball just fell right to me, rightplace, right time.”
On the defense coming together:
“If you look at our last five or six games, I think we've got four shutouts. We’re really upset with the goal we gave up tonight so late. That shouldn't happen, it should never happen. We should have kept a clean sheet tonight. So, I'm a little disappointed about that one goal. But at the other day, we got three points tonight.”
On mentality going forward to Fresno:
“Sticking to the same as we've been doing. We've been successful the last few weeks. We're confident in how we're playing. We know it's going to be a tough game. They're a good team. They're in good form. So should be a good test for us.”
