Real Monarchs SLC saw its road skid continue as it dropped a 3-2 result on the road in Texas against Austin Bold FC. After an early 2-0 deficit, FW Tate Schmitt tallied his first professional goal to half the Austin lead. Austin Bold FC recovered quickly however, going into the break with a 3-1 score line. With a man advantage in the second half, the Monarchs found a second goal through FW Douglas Martinez, but ultimately it was not enough to overcome the early deficit.
Saturdayâs contest will be the first of the season between Real Monarchs and Fresno FC. The two sides met three times in 2018, which saw the Monarchs come away with a 1-0 victory in each of the three matches. The two last met to close out the 2018 Regular Season in October, in a match that saw the Monarchs secure a top four spot on the table. The bout on Saturday will see two undefeated streaks be tested as the Monarchs have yet to be defeated at Zions Bank Stadium in 2019, while Fresno FC stands as the lone undefeated team in the Western Conference.
